Syndros

What does Syndros mean?

Syndros is a United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved prescription cannabinoid. It is prescribed for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced vomiting and nausea and also as an appetite stimulant for sufferers of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) who are experiencing disease-related weight loss.

Syndros is a liquid form of dronabinol. It is orally administered. Typically, Syndros is prescribed when all other prescription medications have been tried.

More Info On Syndros

Syndros is the first FDA approved liquid-form of dronabinol. It is believed to be highly effective because the liquid form is readily absorbed by the body. The dronabinol liquid form also makes it simpler for certain patients to take because the liquid enables easier dosing.

The active ingredient in Syndros (dronabinol) is synthetic tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive cannabinoid of the cannabis plant. Dronabinol has been around since 1985 when it was marketed as Marinol. It lacked popularity because of its delayed effects and its dysphoric side effects. Most sufferers turned to natural marijuana plant options in place of using Marinol.

The pharmaceutical giant Insys Therapeutics manufactures both Syndros and Marinol, which are just two forms of dronabinol. Marijuana has always been a popular treatment for nausea, vomiting, and stimulating the appetite. It is believed to be successful because of the synergistic reaction all the cannabinoids found in marijuana such as THC, cannabidiol (CBD), and the various terpenes.

Unfortunately, Syndros lacks the other key components and compounds of the natural cannabis plant, which is why it has never rendered the same treatment success as the natural medical marijuana plant bestows on its users.
