Cannabidivarinic Acid (CBDVA) – An Overview

Cannabidivarinic Acid (CBDVA) – An Overview

Cannabidivarinic acid – CBDVA is a cannabinoid. So far more than 100 cannabinoids have been found but not all of them are properly researched. Cannabidivarinic acid is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid.   Since the psychoactive cannabinoid is illegal, as a result, there is limited research in terms of nonpsychoactive cannabinoids as well.   Cannabinoids are active chemicals in marijuana. These compounds are similar to the chemicals produced by human body and involved in memory, appetite, pain, and movement.  Cannabidivarinic acid – CBDVA, being a non-psychoactive cannabinoid present in the cannabis plant, reportedly possess anti-inflammatory properties.

Chemical Formula – C20H26O4

Molecular Weight – 330.41804 g/mol

Description of Chemical Structure

The chemical structure of this molecule has the atoms arrangement and the chemical bonds which hold atoms together. The molecule of Cannabidivarinic acid contains 51 bonds. It has 25 non-H bonds, 5 rotatable bonds, 9 multiple bonds, 6 aromatic bonds, 3 double bonds, 1 carboxylic acid (aromatic), 2 six-membered rings, 2 aromatic hydroxyls and 1 hydroxyl groups.   The carbon atoms present in the Cannabidivarinic acid’s chemical structure are implied to be present at the corners whereas hydrogen atoms linked to carbon atoms are not indicated. Every carbon atom is generally considered to be linked with enough hydrogen atoms to offer carbon atom, at least four bonds.   The information of the bonds, atoms, coordinates, and connectivity included in the Cannabidivarinic acid chemical structure can be identified easily.   Since Cannabidivarinic acid is a cannabinoid, it is likely to contain the basic properties of cannabinoid. The proper research in terms of specific chemical properties of Cannabidivarinic acid is yet to be researched. Until now we don’t have enough information about the compound and its properties, which makes it difficult to identify individual properties.

Research suggests that cannabinoids are capable of treating the following;

  • Reduce anxiety
  • Eliminate cancer cells and cut down tumor growth
  • Relieve pain and reduce inflammation
  • Control vomiting and nausea caused by chemotherapy
  • Improve weight gain, stimulate appetite, especially in persons suffering from AIDS and cancer
  • Release tight muscles in people having multiple sclerosis

Even after years of research work and never-ending debate about the legalization of cannabis, there is a lot to be known. Currently, we are in the initial phase of the research. There is a need to make more efforts to comprehend the effects of cannabis on the human bodies.   Cannabinoids and its related compounds are mostly a mystery in the field of medicine. Each of them has unique and distinctive properties but due to limited research and lack of understanding, maybe a lot of medicinal effect of the cannabis plant is not fully utilized.   This is exactly why the legalization of the cannabis matters and is a hot topic all around the world. There is a growing need to understand the workings of this medicinal plant. As cannabis is getting famous, we need to study its therapeutic effects and use them for the betterment of humankind.
