Sustainable Gardening

What does Sustainable Gardening mean?

Sustainable gardening is a method of growing plants such that the garden is able to successfully sustain itself without requiring any outside resources, pesticides, or herbicides. Sustainable gardening is always organic.

The benefits of sustainable gardening are many, including less reliance on watering and no chemical or pesticide use.

More Info On Sustainable Gardening

Sustainable gardening works in complete harmony with nature and is good for the environment because it creates the diversity and balance to not require outside resources such as pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.

A sustainable garden is grown using soil amendments such as compost or other organic matter and by using plants that work harmoniously together. Natural rather than chemical methods are used to adjust the pH, soil composition, and provide nutrients.

A completely sustainable garden needs to attract the right predatory or beneficial insects, have enough diversity through companion planting to minimize weed growth and provide a soil that’s healthy enough to retain moisture and is rich in nutrients.
