Delta-9-cis-tetrahydrocannabinol – A synthetic Tetrahydrocannabinol

Delta-9-cis-tetrahydrocannabinol – A synthetic Tetrahydrocannabinol

Tetrahydrocannabinol is abbreviated as THC and it is one of the 113 cannabinoids present and identified in the cannabis plant. Cannabis is known as the psychoactive plant that affects the human brain and when we speak of it, THC is the primary constituent responsible for that.

Tetrahydrocannabinol is the term that is also used to refer to the cannabinoid isomers. For instance, Dronabinol is the synthetic THC form that is approved by FDA. This constituent is known t increase the appetite stimulant in people having AIDS or receiving chemotherapy.

There are numerous research studies to fully understand the THC and its related compounds and constituents. Indeed there are many compounds which are not yet fully known in terms of their chemical and physical properties.

Previously it was observed that synthetic cannabinoids should not be considered merely other forms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. In fact, these compounds possess the chemical structure which is highly unrelated to the Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. They have different metabolism and they often have greater toxicity.

Speaking of which, we have another constituent of tetrahydrocannabinol, known as cis-THC – Delta-9-cis-tetrahydrocannabinol. This is referred to as synthetic cannabinoid as per many research studies. However, we don’t have much information about the formation of this compound. We don’t have much information if Delta-9-cis-tetrahydrocannabinol contains the same level of effects on the human body as that of tetrahydrocannabinol.

THC and Plants Self Defense

Just like other pharmacologically active and secondary metabolites of different plants, THC is actually a lipid that is found in the popular cannabis plant. It is assumed to be responsible for the self-defense of the plant and against insect predation, environmental stress, and ultraviolet light.

Cannabis Compounds and Side Effects

Just like every other medicine, cannabis has its own distinctive set of side effects. Even though not everyone experience is of adverse reactions but every one of us, especially the ones who are associated with cannabis consumption in any form, must understand and recognize the risks. Not to mention, most of these side effects are due to the main psychoactive compound that is THC.

Since we don’t have any authentic or proven information about cis-THC – Delta-9-cis-tetrahydrocannabinol and its properties, we can only assume that it has the same effects as that of THC, for being one of its constituents.

However, there are certain ways to dodge the side effects of cannabis consumption. For instance, you can try a strain which is high in CBD like Cannatonic, ACDC, Harlequin or Canna-Tsu. If you are wondering that CBD is also a constituent of Cannabis plant then you must know that it is not psychoactive in the same manner as that of THC.

It helps curb the major side effects of THC and give a more relaxing feeling. Needless to say, there is a need to further explore the effects of different compounds in the cannabis plant so that they can be used accordingly.

There are still so many compounds which are yet to be explored for their unique properties and cis-THC – Delta-9-cis-tetrahydrocannabinol is no exception to it.
